Steel ship plates are used in the cabin structures of cruise ships. The especially thin but wide plates are used for such applications to offer the best processing properties such as flatness and weldability.
In contrast, high-strength, thermomechanically rolled ship plates are used in offshore applications. They are used for platform superstructures or for special ships in the oil and gas industry.
